Vanja and Rafa – Mandarin Oriental

First blog post in ages!  We’ve been so busy filming this summer it really has been a challenge to keep the website up to date, but am so excited to be back to sharing some wonderful weddings again….this one especially as Vanja and Rafa had such a beautiful, heartfelt, elegant wedding, a perfect mix of Spanish and English in the heart of London.

Vanja and Rafa got married at The Mandarin Oriental, a truly wonderful venue who always make us feel welcome and their weddings are seamless. They had the expert planning services of Melanie from CranberryBlue Weddings, who are a delight to work with and who’s attention to detail is incredible….so lovely to see you again ladies!

Vanja got ready at home with the super talents of Kate Hughes on hair and makeup….who as always did a stunning job and Vanja looked breath taking.  Rafa got ready at Blakes Hotel which is a fantastic location. He and his fellow grooms men looked great in classic morning suits, a truly elegant affair.

The sun came out and drinks were had on the terrace, we even had a ride past by the Queen’s horse guard for her birthday! I love the fact you are in the heart of London  but surrounded  by greenery, such a great location.

We were joined on the day by Mike Garrad who was the photographer. We meet so many photographers and Mike joined the long list of absolutely wonderful ones to work with…thank you for being so lovely!

Thank you also for having us with you for the day Vanja and Rafa, it was such a pleasure. You, your friends and family made us feel warm and welcome and Rafa’s speeches and real emotions were wonderful to see.  I wish you every happiness in your future together xx

Antonietta and Matthew – RSA

We love being asked back to film family of past couples, it’s the best! Especially when they’re as lovely as Antonietta and Matthew. We first met them a few years ago when we filmed the  wedding to the lovely Kat and Tom, and it’s with great admiration that we’ve seen Kat become a highly respected and talented wedding planner….so we were doubly excited to be asked to film this wedding!   We knew that with Kat behind the planning it was going to be a fabulous day….and it was.

Annie and Matt chose the wonderful RSA as their wedding and reception venue, which is right in the heart of London, of the Strand. It’s a beautiful space and perfect for a city wedding. They both got ready at the equally lovely Mondrian Hotel, which has incredible views of the Thames and St Paul’s. With the help (though not much needed!) of Jo, who did the beautiful hair and make up,  Annie looked stunning in her Suzanne Neville dress. Not forgetting of course Matt and their gorgeous son, who both looked the part too in their suits and black bow ties. A beautiful ceremony and fun filled afternoon lay ahead, and it was so lovely to see these two people share their day with their nearest and dearest.

A who’s who list of suppliers helped make the day look and feel perfect; the flowers were provided by Blue Sky Flowers, amazing gold leafed cake by Couture Cakes, Vowed and Amazed lights, Say Fromage photo booth and wonderful entertainment in the day by the beautiful sounding Charlotte Campbell, with our regular DJ who we always bump in to….Matt Maurice!  Last but not least, we got the chance to work with one of our favourite photographers again (and his equally lovely wife this time), David Jenkins…..thanks for being so much fun to work with, hope we meet again soon!

Annie and Matt, thank you for having us share your day, we which you three lots of luck and love in your future together, and thanks Kat for helping everything run as smoothly as it did. xx

Larissa and Andy – Mandarin Oriental, London

A very quick video post of the beautiful Larissa (who hails from Brazil) and Andy’s wedding which took place in central London, with their reception at the ever elegant Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge (always a pleasure to film there!) Congratulations both! X

Fabi and Jeff – One Whitehall

We were back at one of our favourite wedding venues for Fabi and Jeff’s wedding – One Whitehall, London. This gorgeous wedding is the coming together of two cultures and families…Fabi is from Brazil and Jeff hails from Northampton (or is it Sheffield?…Pulp fans will know what we mean:)). The whole day was fun, happy, beautiful and heartfelt, all set in wonderful, historic surroundings. Fabi and Jeff made us feel welcome as soon as we met them and we love their choice of dress and blue suits…very beautiful.

They were married at St John’s, which is an impressive building in the heart of Islington, route masters then took the guests over to One Whitehall for the reception and evening. We wee accompanied by the ever lovely Jordanna Marston (who we have worked together with at One Whitehall before) and  equally lovely assistant Ross. Jordanna was an old school friend of Jeff’s so the atmosphere was brilliant all day very relaxed and fun…we love working with you Jordanna!

Thanks Fabi and Jeff for being so lovely and fun, we had such a brilliant time meeting you both and filming the day. Wishing you a wonderful future together xx

Charlotte and Simon – Islington Town Hall and The Union club, Soho

We were so lucky to be able to film the lovely Charlotte and Simon a couple of weeks ago…they really are a wonderful, gentle, friendly and down to earth couple. They chose to get married at one of our favourite places  – Islington Town Hall (where the staff are just the best!) and then went on to the very cool Union Club in Soho.

Charlotte and Simon planned a happy wedding that reflected them both as a couple, and they were supported by their friends and family (who were equally as lovely and friendly too). Charlotte’s vintage dress was by the wonderful Fur Coat No Knickers, her gorgeous shoes by Charlotte Olympia and hair and make-up by super talented Elbie Bayley…what a team! She looked beautiful. Flowers were by Becca Hole at Jane Packer, and were stunning. Charlottes Mum also spent hours making the bouquet, which was so symbolic and personal…a really special touch. Not forgetting Simon…who looked dapper in Ted Baker.

Photographer on the day was Lisa Jane and her lovely assistant … looking forward to seeing the photos!

Congratulations again on your wedding you two, you are truly lovely…and thank you for having us a long for the day! xx

Sophie and Michael – Battersea Arts Centre

Our first wedding of the year…hurrah!

Globe trotters Sophie and Michael, who now live in New York, got married at one of our London favourites…Battersea Arts Centre. They had, with the help of Tom at Event Oracle, the place transformed into a woodland fairytale, bedecked with candles, branches and flowers. It looked stunning. They had a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony conducted by on of their close family friends, followed by reception and evening entertainment in the Grand Hall. Dress code was black tie, and it never fails to make people look elegant and timeless….this was a good looking wedding! Sophie was positively glowing in her lace detailed dress….with sleeves (I love long sleeves…personal favourite!) and Michael handsome and constantly beaming the best smile we’ve seen in a long time.

We were accompanied by Toby and his assistant at Big Day photos who were a real pleasure to work with and kept us laughing…always a bonus.  Great speeches were followed by a packed dance floor and a surprise flash mob of dancers, in the shape of their friends and family, which had both Sophie and Michael in hysterics. Top night you two!! Thanks for having us along to your wedding, it was a pleasure to meet you both and we wish you much love and happiness in your new life together in New York! xx

Rebecca and Nick – Hurlingham Club, London

This is a marriage made in heaven….or Westminster at least. Both Rebecca and Nick work in the world of politics, which I have always been fascinated with and bored lots of friends with my attempts at political debates. Without getting too political on a wedding blog, Nick works for the best newspaper and my regular buy, The Guardian, which is a good thing. Rebecca works as a political journalist for the BBC, so of course I have no idea of her political stance….but she did look gorgeous!  In fact, she looked stunning in her Anoushka G, deco feel dress and Rachel Simpson shoes. Nick opted for traditional tails and made a handsome figure alongside his brothers who were the Ushers.

After getting ready at The Wyndham Grand, Chelsea Harbour, they were married at All Saints Church, Fulham, in a very heartfelt and amusing ceremony followed by the whole wedding party strolling in the sunshine to the reception venue of The Hurlingham Club, set in huge grounds on the banks of the Thames. Although Rebecca is Australian, the wedding was the epitome of Englishness with cricket teams and tennis players enjoying the grounds alongside the wedding guests.

We worked alongside Simon Carr, who was a real pleasure to work with. Rebecca and Nick, thank you so much for having with you on the day, it was a wonderful wedding and you two made our job very easy. Here’s to many years of political debates in the Watt -Keating household! X

Kate and Jonathan – Prince Albert Pub, Camden

You’ve got to love a London wedding….and we love everything about this one! Kate and Jonathan are one happy, loving, warm, perfectly matched couple…with great taste in music (thank you!) They had planned a gorgeous city wedding for themselves and their Northern families, who all made the trek down South to spend the day with them. It was full of  pretty details, pastel colours, beautiful flowers, fun, humour, kindness and most of all massive amounts of love.

Kate got ready at Malmaison (just next door to where they filmed Poirot…I’m a massive Poirot fan so this started the day off very nicely indeed). She had chose the lovely Eliza Clare (assisted by the equally lovely Hannah) for their wedding photography, and she was a great choice and fantastic to work alongside. Kate’s dress was vintage polkadot (hiding a corset literally to die for as it could be laced so tightly!) with pretty shoes and soft tulips for her bouquet. She looked amazing.

We then travelled to Islington town Hall for the heartfelt wedding ceremony, where the sun came out and spirits soared. Route-masters then took us via Alexandra Palace (home to the worlds first public TV broadcast service courtesy of the BBC…and the reason why this couple chose to stop there, seeing as they both have broadcast careers and Jonathan at least, is a proper TV broadcast geek!). We then travelled on to The Prince Albert pub in Camden for a wonderful reception, delicious food and emotional speeches.

This really was a wonderful wedding, mostly because Kate and Jonathan have a wonderful circle of family and friends, reflecting the lovely nature of this pair. Beccy and I loved every minute of your day and are once again so honoured to be part of and meet such great couples. Thank you for having us! X

Jo and Simon – The Bingham, Richmond

Sunshine…Hurray!!  This was such a beautiful day and we were blessed with that golden April sunshine that gave the whole wedding a happy, lazy, laid back smiley feel…just as well or Simon and his Australian family would have been freezing! The Bingham is a favourite of  mine, I love the views from the gardens of the river, the beautiful rooms and the fabulous food, and the venue provided a superb setting for Jo and Simon’s wedding and reception.

Jo looked stunning in her fitted fish tail, lace dress and Simon dapper in Austin Reed, plus Jo (and Simon….maybe a little bit…) had put in a lot of effort adding little personalised touches to their wedding to make it extra lovely. Jo, I salute you for hand making 1000 paper cranes, I can’t decide if you were crazy or just very committed…but whichever it is they looked great :)

Evening entertainment was provided by the ever popular Wedding Smashers, with lovely letter lighting from Vowed and Amazed, plus we got to work with the very lovely Elizabeth Lois and her partner…go check out the gorgeous photos!

This was a beautiful wedding and the much anticipated return of sunshine really added to the day, throw in a handful of lovely Australians (who always know how to enjoy them selves), happy ,cute children and you have a top wedding. Thank you both so much for having us along and good luck with everything you do and your travels in the future together xx

Becky and Jason – One Marylebone

One word sums up this wedding…fun! Becky and Jason simply had a great time on their wedding day, there was so much laughter and joking and smiles, we loved it. And, I especially love the fact they chose a drum and bass track for their first dance…brilliant!

Beautiful Becky got ready at the Sanderson, which is such a fab hotel. She had a gorgeous fish tail dress and Christian Dior shoes, and her bridesmaids (who were equally gorgeous and happy) wore fitted grey dresses and heels. They all looked glamorous and chic, much like the rest of this upbeat city wedding. Her flowers were by Cindy Kirkland, who provided the delicate anemones which looked so pretty. The actual wedding and reception all took place at One Marylebone, which I think is fast becoming one of my favourite wedding venues, having an altar as the back drop to your evening dancing is so cool! It was a great setting for this wedding and the sense of space and grandeur was spot on. Helping plan the day was the very lovely and friendly Jenny Marks who had the perfect combination of being organised, getting things done but being lovely too. Jason and his groomsmen all looked handsome in black suits and Jason’s brother gave a very moving speech. I also loved the choice of singing Madness – Must be Love during the ceremony, which led to a few tears being shed…and not because of the quality of singing ;)

Photographer on the day was Julia Boggio, who did a great job getting her trade mark photo’s and complimented the couple’s sense of fun and humour. The dancing in the evening got off to a great start, especially with the help of a dedicated bottle of vodka for each table…this was a top wedding, there was so much fun and energy and humour to the day. Thank you for having us along, I know you’re both going to continue having fun in the future and we wish you lots of luck and love along the way xx
