Shona and Jonny – Crossbasket Castle

Scotland!! We love a Scottish wedding, so we were so excited when Shona emailed us to see if we were free to film her wedding at Crossbasket Castle….of course we were!

The whole day was wonderful, both families so friendly and welcoming, and you can see just how important they all are to each other. Family was a big theme on the day and it made it very special. From the venue to the weather (the day previous was thick fog and rain!) it all came together to make a gorgeous day.

Shona chose the brilliant Jesus Peiro for her dress, one of my favourite designers, paired with Manolo Blahs shoes. The bridesmaids wore Maids to Measure dresses in a beautiful dusty pink colour. Flowers on the day were by Mood Flowers, who did a wonderful job. Make up was by Complection Perfection (not that they needed much….)

Jonny wore a kilt teamed with waist coat and jacket by Andrew Brookes tailor. His whole team of ushers wore kilts too…they looked pretty sharp!

After the heartfelt ceremony the pair left the church in a family sports car, complete with tin cans trailing behind, and led the guests back to Crossbasket Castle. The sun shone and we able to enjoy drinks on the terrace before heading into the reception inside.

The beautiful cake was made by Heathers Cakes and the entertainment in the evening included a traditional Ceilidh (our fave!!) and live music by Callanish. We left them in full swing and they no doubt partied the night away.

Www were fined by Euan Roberston who was the photographer on the day. He was an absolute delight to work with, hope we see you again somewhere Euan!

Thank you so much Shona and Jonny for having us with you; you made us feel so welcome and part of the day, it was a total pleasure to meet you all and share the day with you. Lots of luck and love for your future together xx

Suzanne and Sam – Aspen, Colorado

I often gush/bore my friends about the amazing weddings I am lucky enough to go to, and the wonderful people I meet and places I see…but this one is right up there, quite literally. I was so lucky to get to spend a week in the beautiful area that is Aspen, Colorado; to film Suzanne and Sam get married. Sam is a friend of another couple we filmed (Ashley and Daniel) earlier in the year and I was so excited when Sam emailed to see if I might be free to film his wedding too.

Sam and Suzanne live in HongKong, but travelled across to Aspen for their wedding weekend. They had chosen to have their ceremony and reception on top of Aspen mountain , on the beautiful SunDeck. They were joined by friends and family from all over the world, all coming to celebrate this wonderful couple. Apart from the views being simply amazing, the whole weekend had such a happy, excited, joyful and loving atmosphere…it really was perfect. They both have very special families.

The couple had some planning help in the form of EKS events, who kept everything running smoothly, including the cable car rides up the mountain (a personal first at a wedding!) and we were joined by the super talented Thayer Gowdy on the photography side…they were a dream to work with and made me giggle, always a bonus!

The Ceremony and Speeches were heartfelt and funny, the dancing unhindered, the sun shone, the smiles were plenty…thank you both so much for having us; it was an amazing week and a trip I won’t forget in a hurry. We wish you both all the luck and love in the world for your future together x

Sara and Matthew – Notley Abbey

A beautiful summery wedding at Notley Abbey, which we filmed alongside photographer Philippa James (who was fab!). Sara and Matthew have lived all around the world (currently in Mexico I think!) and have had a wonderful education in life and people, making them a great couple to be around.  They met at school and their friendship has blossomed into the beautiful relationship they have today. They are supported by a truly loving and welcoming family on both sides.

Sara’s stunning dress was from Suzanne Neville, and she looked amazing. The ceremony took place at The Oratory Church in Oxford, after which everybody wen on to the beautiful Notley Abbey.  Entertainment was provided by The Vernon Sisters, who were so lovely to be around.

Thank you both for letting us be a part of your day and hearing your stories (great speeches!). We wish you all the luck in your future life and travels together. xx

Sophie and Farhod – Babington House

We’re back at Babington… Yay!!! Always a pleasure to film here and one of our all time favourite venues, who yet again, put on wonderful day for Sophie and Farhod. We loved this wedding so, so much. Sophie and Farhod are such lovely, warm, happy people, it was such a joy to film them and be around their families. They literally didn’t stop smiling the whole day…and dancing…always dancing!

What I loved about them the most was that they didn’t get worried about the day running smoothly, or stressing about the details, or what didn’t go as planned (not that anything didn’t), but instead they just had fun all day, and laughed and cried and smiled and danced. It’s so fabulous to see and you can’t help but smile with them. I loved how Sophie and Farhod had a spontaneous dance on the lawn to Babington DJ Nigel’s tunes. (and I love that they had house music on the lawns in the first place :)) They made their wedding their own by just being themselves and that’s what was so great about the day.

Sophie chose a stunning, unembellished dress by Stephanie Allin Couture, which she paired with a gold belt and gold Jimmy Choo’s. She looked stunning and had a permeant smile on her face all day. Farhod looked handsome in his dark suit and beautiful flowers by Passion and Susie Edwards adorned the tables and ceremony room. Farhod’s family is from Iran originally so they were lucky to have members of their family travel to join them from all over the world. I love weddings with different cultural twists and relatives from the Middle East are guaranteed to bring a bit of glamour and dancing :)  A close friend of the couple, Emily,  made all beautiful the stationary for them…

Great speeches (Farhod’s Dad should do stand up…sorry to encourage him!) were followed by full on dancing in the bar, with the help of Nigel again, who never fails to get everyone dancing. Bella West joined us for photography and she was a pleasure to work with, hope we meet again!

Thank you both for being so fun and alive and full of love. We wish you all the best for your future together and maybe we’ll bump into you dancing on a beach somewhere ;) xx

Charlotte and Gerard – Babington House

It’s been a while but we’ve blogged…and what a beautiful wedding to return with. We adore Babington, it’s our favourite UK venue for so many reasons. The staff are amazing, the food delicious, the decor relaxed and welcoming, but also it just attracts the best couples to hold their weddings there!

Charlotte and Gerard are no exception and we were delighted to come back to Babington to film their wedding. As usual everything looked amazing, ran smoothly and the day was full of smiles, laughter and fun. We even had sunshine!  We got to work with one of our favourite photographers; Amy Murrell, who we get to see a few times each year and it’s always a pleasure.

Charlotte looked elegant and beautiful in her delicate dress by Sarah Seven, finished off with gorgeous Jimmy Choo’s.  Gerard chose a bespoke suit from Tom Fox which complimented Charlotte perfectly. The ever wonderful florists, Passion worked their magic on the day making the place smell and look delightful.

In the evening we were entertained by Atlantica, a brilliant live band, followed by Nigel, the usual Babington House DJ, who took control of the party in the evening, which always means the dance floor is packed and the night rolls on into the early hours (great to see you again!)

Thank you both for being so lovely and easy to work with, it was a joy all day. We wish you lots of luck, health and happiness in your future together xx

Ali and Leigh – Florida, USA

We love to travel…it’s one of the best things about our job; meeting new people, seeing new places and going on adventures every weekend. This one was extra special as I already knew Ali as a colleague and friend, so we were just beyond thrilled to get to travel to Orlando to film her and Leigh’s wedding. Now Ali and Leigh are a little bit Disney obsessed….I have to hold my hands up and say Disney is not my thing, but I also have to admit I am a little bit converted now, especially after the whole wedding party  spent the most magical evening watching the fireworks at Epcot after the ceremony earlier in the day.

Ali and Leigh were joined for their wedding by their close family and friends, who helped celebrate their unique day. We all stayed at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in the run up to the big day, which is where Ali and Leigh started the wedding day off with prep in the morning. We then all headed over to their ceremony venue, the beautiful Cypress Grove Estate House, which is set in tall trees on the edge of a lake…it’s stunning.

The ceremony was conducted by Glynn Ferguson and we were joined by the lovely Kritsa from Kristen Weaver Photography. They were a joy to work with and so lovely. Ali looked stunning in her dress from my local – Stamford Bridal Rooms, finished off with a pair of sparkly Kurt Geiger‘s. Beautiful flowers were provided by Lee Forest Designs and the furniture and styling by RW Events.

The whole team put on a wonderful day for everyone and we managed to squeeze a whole wedding day into about 6 hours….which meant we could then hit Disney!  By chance Beccy and I had been persuaded to upgrade our car rental to a very understated bright red Mustang convertible (now an absolute requirement for all our car rentals in the US) which we used as Ali and Leigh’s wedding transport to Disney (I am also now available as a chauffeur). I think one of my favourite memories from the day was watching them both in the back seat, newly married, huge grins, wind in their hair, heading towards The Magic Kingdom!

We then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening visiting Disney, being congratulated by strangers (and getting hugs from little girls who were convinced Ali was an actual real life princess), rounding off the night watching the amazing firework display at Epcot, whilst standing in England eating fish and chips!

You two were such a joy to be around, thank you so much for having us with you for your beautiful day, we’ll never forget it. We wish you all the luck and love in the world for your future together and can’t wait to see what yoyo both do next xx

Bear and Daniel – Malton, Yorkshire

We loved this wedding so, so much! I knew it was going to be good from the moment Bear emailed, as she just happened the be the lady who created the gorgeous wedding ring of one of our other brides (Bryony and Ed). Bear is a jeweller (Bear Brooksbank) and Daniel works in design, so it’s always going to be a creative wedding.

The whole day took place at Menethorpe Hall, Bear’s childhood home, with their ceremony at a local church. Daniel got ready at the Talbot Hotel in Malton, the pretty North Yorkshire market town. Bear had a house full of family and friends helping her get ready, and she chose the most original and beautiful dress, which she helped design, by Jacqueline Byrne based in London. It was a concoction of painted layers, lace and feathers…it was stunning! Of course Bear made her own jewellery to and she looked amazing. The bridesmaid were treated to Temperley dresses too.

Following the ceremony, where it tried it’s best to snow as Bear arrived at the church, the reception was held back at Menethorpe Hall, with champagne, canapés and some emotional and heartfelt speeches. The party continued into the evening with a surprise for the guests in the form of a live band who had been set up in the now converted party barn. The guests didn’t need much encouragement and a great party kicked off, which I’m pretty sure lasted well into the early hours.

We were joined on the day by the very lovely Pete Henderson from Nottingham who was the photographer on the day. Such a pleasure to work with, hope we meet again!

Thank you Bear and Daniel, we had a fantastic time and love your energy and smiles. Here’s to an amazing and healthy future for you both xx

Samantha and Andrew – Babington House

Wow, what a wedding! We absolutely loved this one as not only was it at one of our favourite venues, Babington House, where we got to work with our lovely friend and photographer Patrick Bulter Madden again, but Samantha and Andrew were just a joy to film and be around. The wedding was full of energy, music, smiles and dancing…we loved every minute!

Samantha looked totally stunning in her Vera Wang dress, whilst Andrew wore Hugo Boss (and looked sharp!). Samantha’s family was very important to her on the day in what was a very moving and touching ceremony, with Samantha being given away by her Brother Jenson (who also gave a very lovely speech too in place of their much missed Dad)  Guests had travelled all over the globe to be there and it is a testament to the couple that people would travel so far to celebrate their day with them.

As ever, Babington looked amazing and the tables and flowers gorgeous…it really is a wonderful venue to film in (and the staff are always friendly and helpful). The day had lots of music to it with beautiful singing in the church service, followed by the best wedding band EVER..The London Essentials who we keep bumping into at various weddings. They always get everyone singing and dancing and generally having an amazing time. In the evening we had the brilliant Duke Beat Box do a couple of live sets alongside the DJ and live drums…all amazing and we didn’t want to leave! Every wedding needs a party like that :)

We just want to say thank you to Samantha and Andrew for letting us be a part of your day, it’s always such an honour to witness two people start out on their married ice together and we wish you lots of luck and love for the future xx

Larissa and Andy – Mandarin Oriental, London

A very quick video post of the beautiful Larissa (who hails from Brazil) and Andy’s wedding which took place in central London, with their reception at the ever elegant Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge (always a pleasure to film there!) Congratulations both! X

Jana and Sebastian – Banyan Tree, Seychelles

Well, where to start…getting a wedding enquiry that has the location named as the Seychelles is enough to make anyone squeal, but knowing that this was a chance to return to this special corner of the world for a second time for a wedding almost finished me off! Of course I jumped at the chance and was so lucky that Jana and Sebastian chose to book me for their intimate wedding of two on the island of Mahe, at the simply beautiful Banyan Tree.  It really was a dream come true again.

Jana and Sebastian also turned out to be the most lovely, gentle, genuine and friendly people I could have hoped to film. They are both from Germany and decided that they wanted their wedding to be about them as a couple rather than feeling they had to do the traditional wedding day back home. It wasn’t an elopement as such because their families all gave their blessing, but they just wanted to do it their way, and what a way to do it!

The setting is idyllic – the sea and sand pristine, surrounded by palm trees, exotic plants, lush green everywhere. Jana and Sebastian spent the day before the wedding exploring the island and the main town, with a trip to the local market where they bought a years supply of chilies! We then spent the afternoon on a Catamaran sailing round Mahe and stopping off for snorkelling on the coral reefs….not a bad day really!

The following day Jana and Sebastian had their ceremony on the beach at the Banyan Tree, which had been set up by the wonderful staff that work there. It was completely perfect and very moving. It was so lovely to watch two people say their vows with no fuss or stress…just the sound of the waves and birds in the background. They both looked so happy and at peace with each other. When they had planted their symbolic tree, they then had the afternoon to wander the resort, accompanied by myself and their photographer, the very lovely and funny Wil, of Pear Tree Photography, who had flown in from South Africa to join us. He was a joy to work with and we had a great day.

The evening saw the most exquisite light on the beach at sunset…totally dreamy. Jana and Sebastian then enjoyed a private meal on the beach together. I can’t thank you enough for letting us be with you on such an amazing and intimate day, it really did feel such a privilege and something I will never forget. Here’s to an wonderful life together, and stay in touch! X
